Famous saxophonist, Emmanuel Dibango Njoke alias Manu Dibango, is expected in Cameroon this week to perform a series of concerts for a humanitarian cause. The UNESCO Ambassador’s presence in his native country is part of celebration marking the fiftieth anniversary of Cameroon Red Cross. On this occasion, the humanitarian organization, very present on the spot lately, especially because of the massive influx of CAR refugees in Cameroon and Nigeria, should enable the Red Cross to raise funds enabling it to better conduct its activities.
The program includes field visits to comfort vulnerable people, and most importantly, a huge concert by Manu Dibango on Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Yaoundé.
Our goal is to raise funds to better deploy across the country, said Cameroon’s Red Cross chief, William Eteki Mboumoua.
Our resources which are essentially from state subsidies, are insufficient to meet the huge and growing humanitarian needs of vulnerable people he said.
This is the first time that Manu Dibango will perform in Cameroon after the celebration of his 80th anniversary in December 2013 and recognition of him by the international community in February.
