Gas production has risen in Cameroon by 4000percent

Gas production has increased substantially in Cameroon from 93.4 million cubic feet in the first four months of 2013 to 4. 34 billion cubic feet during the same period in 2014, the National Hydrocarbons Society (NHS) announced Thursday. In a communiqué after a board meeting, the NHS said the increase in production came form the gas fields of Logbaba and Sanga.

”This substantial increase is due mainly to that of consumption by the industries in Doula, 20 of which have converted their burners from fuel to gas,” it said.

The NHS hinted that the industrial consumption would increase in the coming weeks, with the opening of a new cement plant in Douala.

Meanwhile, the gas plant of Kribi, in the south of the country, is the biggest client of the NHS consuming, about 3,843 cubic feet of gas between January and April 2014.
