Far North Region: Dyke over River Logone collapses

The fifty-metre portion of the dyke collapsed last Friday 19th September 2014, causing an overflow of the banks of the river.According to the Divisional Officer of Mayo-Danay, Nkweti Simon Ndoh, the locality of Dougui was most affected by the tragic event.

He further noted that close to seventy six people have already been resettled at the Government High School, Begue-Palam.

In effect, 3000 bags of sand and mud have been provided for the construction of a makeshift embankment, while canoes have been provided to enable inhabitants of the area cross over the river.
