Cameroon army regains control of Kerawa

Cameroonian armed forces on Friday regained control of Kerawa (Far north), reports said on Saturday. The city was besieged by Boko Haram, security sources told the African Press Agency.

Before being forced to retreat without fighting, the attackers killed about fifteen civilians.

On Saturday, the army began hunting down the enemy up to Nigerian territory where they reportedly have solid reverse bases.

Since early this week, Boko Haram, which recently pioneered logic of suicide attacks, have been carrying out simultaneous and deadly incursions in areas insufficiently covered or not covered by local security, which according to observers suggests that the sect has a network of whistleblowers in Cameroon.

The jihadist movement is now facing a coalition made up of Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin armies.
