A US doctor based in New York who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea has become the first person in the city to test positive for Ebola. 33 year old Dr. Craig Allen Spencer (pictured above) had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea, and returned to NYC on October 17th. He tested positive to the virus the Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan New York yesterday October 23rd.

Ebola scare at Pentagon in the USA after woman vomits in parking lot
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon was gripped by an Ebola scare on Friday after a woman vomited in a parking lot, triggering authorities to send in a HazMat team and shut off part of the military complex before concluding she did not have the deadly virus.The Pentagon initially said in a statement that the woman indicated she had "recently visited Africa."But her employer told Reuters she had not traveled abroad recently and local county health authorities later acknowledged that her travel history had been uncertain.
Sierra Leone's football star John Kamara banished by Greek club over Ebola
Greek club PAS Lamia have asked Sierra Leone's John Kamara not to train or play with the club for three weeks due to fears over the Ebola virus.Kamara returned to Greece after playing for the Leone Stars in their Africa Cup of Nations ties in Cameroon.Lamia told him the decision was on advice from the Greek health ministry. "[The club told me] I shouldn't be with the team for 15 to 21 days as I went to Africa to play and because of the Ebola virus," Kamara told BBC Sport.

Large swathes of the West African population may be immune to the deadly Ebola virus, ravaging the region.The current outbreak, the worst on record since the virus was discovered in 1976, has claimed the lives of 4,493 people, infecting 8,997, the World Health Organisation said yesterday. But a team of scientists in the US believe the Ebola virus may be silently immunising a significant portion of the population, who never fall ill or infect others, protecting them from future infection.

Fighting Ebola: A narrow corridor for the transportation of goods has been opened between Lagos and Yaounde
Two ministers; the Minister of Transport, Prof Robert Nkili and the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda jointly decided to open a limited corridor for the transportation of goods only between Lagos and Doula-Yaounde.The decision was taken after all risk-factors were examined.It was realised that the goods from Nigeria are not being packaged there; Lagos being just a distribution point.
