FOOTBALL: Cameroon forced to replace Ekongolo and Bagnack ahead of Sierra Leone match

Brice Nlate Ekongolo and Frank Bagnack will not be participating in the Indomitable Lions’ upcoming Afcon qualifiers against Sierra LeoneDefenders Brice Nlate Ekongolo of Marseille B and Frank Bagnack of Barcelona B have been dropped from Cameroon squad to face Sierra Leone in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches on October 11 and 15 in Yaounde.

Bagnack was held back at his club for exceeding the limit for international assignments, according to Cameroon Football Federation.

The 17-year-old was part of Cameroon U-20 national team that played in the 2015 African U-20 Championship qualifiers.

Ekongolo sustained an injury during a club match, according to the FA’s media officer Vincent De Paul Atangana.

Cameroon coach Volker Finke has called up locals Franck Essombo of Astres Douala and Landry Tabi Manga from Apejes de Mfou to fill in for the two players.

The Lions won their first two matches to sit atop of Group D with six points and are favoured to carry off the upcoming encounters against the Leone Stars who have been forced to play their home match in Cameroon due to the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone.
